Nominations now open for HLAA WI State Board Interested in getting involved in HLAA-WI?
Each year we elect several members to the HLAA Wisconsin Board of Directors at the annal meeting. We are beginning this process and inviting members to participate. There are a couple of ways in which you can participate. The Nominating Committee prepares a slate of candidates to present to the membership. This involves recruiting. In the Fall we vote on the candidates at the annual meeting. You may vote in person at the meeting or you may submit a ballot by mail if you won’t be at the meeting. You can even nominate yourself. If you wish to do that it is best done by contacting the Nominating Committee. Nominations are accepted from the floor at the annual meeting as well. The state board meets four times a year at various locations or online. Become a part of this team that sets the policy and direction of our state organization. Governor's Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing:What does this service entail?
Candidates may serve a 4-year staggered term or serve out a term vacated by a former Council member. Deaf, Deaf-Blind and hard of hearing individuals are strongly encouraged to apply. When Does the Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Meet? The Council meets four times a year, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Department of Health Services building in Madison. NOTE: The meeting room is equipped with a Loop assistive listening system. Interpreter and real time captioning services will be provided. What Does the Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Do? The Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a group of nine people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind and hearing (e.g., parent of a deaf child, teacher of the deaf, interpreter) appointed by the Governor to advise him, the Department of Health Services and the Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing about issues and concerns affecting over 500,000 people in Wisconsin who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or deaf-blind.
