One of the American icon activities is to go to the movies. We all know how frustrating that can be. Either you ask for equipment that is not functioning, or no one on the staff knows what you are talking about.
We have fought long and hard to get adequate services / accommodations to be able to do the iconic American thing and go to the movies! But it has been a struggle for most of us and a current battle with most movie companies.
But, here is some information that might warm your heart:
Have you ever had problems with captions at theaters? For a lot of us the current experience and accessibility equipment can be clunky, faulty, and frustrating. This is why @TeamActiview created an app that is helpful for watching movies with Closed Captions and Amplified Audio in theaters and at home.
Today Actiview announced that Closed Captions will be available on their app for the new @Jennifer.Garner movie @Peppermint, coming out today 9/7! This will be the first time Closed Captions are available nationwide on people's personal mobile devices so they don't have to rent faulty equipment. It can be used in any theater in the US on Apple devices (Android support coming soon). I wanted to share the news so you know there is a better way to watch movies accessibly.
More information can be found at activiewapp.com and on their Facebook page @TeamActiview. You can download the app at activiewapp.com/download
